Covid-19: Social impact funding you might miss – 22 July update
The list of Covid-19 emergency funding for social enterprises is growing each day – it's a challenge to navigate, and easy to miss out.
So in this regular update, we are searching through to highlight our top pick of emergency grants, loans and other funding sources where deadlines are approaching or which we think you might not have noticed. The list below is divided into international and UK funds.

For organisations worldwide
Tinker Foundation: Ensuring Educational Equity during Covid-19 (Latin America)
Deadline: 31 July (full proposal by 14 August)
The Tinker Foundation is replacing its education programme for July to December 2020 with short-term grants to address the pandemic’s effects on education in Latin America. Priority to projects focusing on most vulnerable students and those that complement initiatives of the public education system.
The Global Resilience Fund for Girls and Young Women (Global)
Deadline: Ongoing
Grants of up to $5,000 for registered/unregistered community organisations and informal collectives led by girls, young women or trans and intersex youth, with annual incomes below $50,000; priority given to those from a number of underprivileged groups. Applicants must usually have been previously funded by one of the fund’s 26 partners.
Covid-19 Grassroots Justice Fund (Global)
Deadline: Currently open for donations only
The Covid-19 Grassroots Justice Fund – an initiative of The Elders, the Fund for Global Human Rights, the Justice For All campaign, the Legal Empowerment Network, Namati, and Pathfinders for Peace, Just and Inclusive Societies – is accepting donations for a potential $1m fund to be distributed as flexible, rapid-response grants to approximately 100 grassroots justice groups, including in public health and humanitarian support. First round of funding open to organisations that have participated in the Legal Empowerment Network’s Covid-19 Justice Challenge and other Covid-19 activities; later rounds may be open to other organisations depending on level of funds raised.
For UK organisations
The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust - Charity Survival Fund
Deadline: 27 July
UK registered charities that have been impacted by Covid-19, are actively operating in health and wellbeing, welfare and education, or arts and culture, and with annual income under £5m are eligible for grants of £5,000-£250,000. Total size of fund is £10m.
BBC Children in Need / Youth Futures Foundation - Inspiring Futures
Deadline: 31 July
Nonprofit organisations working with young people and children aged 10-24 (England) and 10-18 (Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) and that are doing work that helps young people towards employment can apply for grants of £10,000-£80,000. Total fund size £6m; for activities starting October 2020.
Art Fund: Respond and Reimagine Fund
Deadline: 17 August; 12 October
Public museums, galleries, historic houses, libraries and archives facing immediate challenges due to Covid-19 are eligible for grants of £10,000-£50,000 (up to 100% funding possible). Applicants must be open to the public for visual arts or object-based collections and have a track record in delivering high quality public activity.
The Fore RAFT Transition Fund 1
Deadline: 7 September
Unrestricted grants of up to £15,000 to help small charities and social enterprises adapt to post-lockdown phase. Open to any registered charity, CIC, CIO or community benefit society with turnover of under £500,000 in the last financial year; particularly interest in small organisations working with marginalised groups and led by people who haven’t previously accessed trust and foundation funding.
Health Foundation: Covid-19 Research Programme
Deadline: 30 September
Funds of £100k-£200k for projects that seek to understand how Covid-19 has affected health and social care service delivery or health inequalities and wider determinants of health. Findings expected to inform policy and/or service delivery decisions about the future of health and care services in response to the pandemic.
UK Community Foundations - BAME Infrastructure Funds
Deadline: Ongoing
Grants of £5,000-£20,000 for infrastructure organisations to help BAME-led organisations to access National Emergencies Trust (NET) funds through local community foundations, eg by raising awareness, providing mentoring/support, supporting with monitoring and reporting etc. Applications will be considered on a weekly basis and funds awarded as quickly as possible thereafter.
