Richard is the Chief Executive of Eastside Primetimers, and formerly the CEO and founder of Eastside Consulting. Richard began his career in corporate finance and worked as part of Citigroup’s mergers and acquisitions team.
In 2004, having gained exposure to both the private and social sector, Richard conceived the idea of a consultancy firm for the not-for-profit sector that could offer strong finance and business advice.
One of his first projects was to assist with the development of a social investment fund for the Big Issue (Big Issue Invest). Since Eastside’s launch the firm has been involved in projects that have raised over £60m for civil society. Other highlights included his project management of a national social enterprise programme – Spark – and pioneering the development of 3SC, a public services management firm for the third sector.
Eastside now works with an extensive group of clients in social housing, health and social care, education and youth services on strategic matters, and Richard continues to oversee a portfolio of client accounts.
In 2013, Richard and Brent Thomas co-led a merger to bring together Eastside Consulting and Primetimers into one firm.
Richard is a Trustee of Computer Aid International, a social enterprise which refurbishes computers for Africa. He speaks and writes on topics such as collaboration, social enterprise, and how to use market forces to achieve social aims.
